The ideal candidate has a bachelors or masters degree, is certified at the high school level, has teaching experience, and a thorough knowledge of subject matter. A summary of the class for this position is included below. Environmental Dynamics This is a year-long course available to juniors and seniors that explores thematic connections between biology, chemistry, and physics. The curriculum focuses on real-life environmental issues and everyday practical problems to promote student awareness and understanding. Students can expect an emphasis on hands-on activities and laboratory exercises designed to refine problem-solving, laboratory procedures, and scientific reading and writing skills. Earth Science Open to students in grades 11 and 12, this course provides a comprehensive study of Astronomy, Oceanography, Geology, and Meteorology. Experimentation serves as a core component of the class. A unique feature of the curriculum is its integration of local Chicago-area topics, specifically regarding its weather and geology related to glaciation. AP Psychology Advanced Placement Psychology is a one-credit course for juniors and seniors that introduces the systematic and scientific study of behavior and mental processes in both humans and animals. Students explore the principles, phenomena, and major subfields of the discipline, while also examining the methods and ethics employed by practitioners. The course is designed to prepare students for the Advanced Placement Examination in May. Candidates must be able to prepare and deliver lesson plans that are engaging for students while utilizing a variety of instructional techniques consistent with the established curriculum. The candidate should be energetic, dedicated to the school community, and able to creatively engage today's learners. Experience working in a one-to-one environment is also preferred.
