Mid-Level Job Description The Director of School Psychology is responsible for coordination and monitoring of the following: program and institutional accreditation; correspondence with the Department of Education (DOE) regarding curriculum approval; course development; student recruitment, selection, and retention; and oversight of student progress.
Specific duties include:
Ensures that the program handbook, marketing materials, and website are up-to-date; Coordinates the application and interview process for school psychology students in consultation with the Graduate Admissions Counselor(s); Monitors student enrollment and retention; Oversees the student advising process in consultation with the Program Advisor; Coordinates new student orientation activities; Schedules and chairs informational meetings with students; Facilitates departmental review of assessment materials related to student learning objectives and program evaluation; Evaluates curriculum needs; Coordinates program-level accreditation efforts; Develops course schedules each semester and monitors whether scheduled courses meet student needs; Identifies potential adjunct faculty, makes inquiries concerning possible teaching interests, interviews candidates and evaluates credentials, coordinates initial hire with HR, ensures that adjunct faculty are added to courses and the Faculty Load and Compensation (FLAC) document; Monitors quality of instruction within the department, including review of course evaluations; Addresses student and faculty concerns when they arise; Monitors extra-contract teaching (i.e., overload) of full-time faculty; Provides recommendations and input regarding the Department of School Psychology budget; Monitors departmental expenditures, including faculty overage, adjunct pay, and non-compensation items; Provides the first level of review during the annual faculty evaluation process. The Director of the School Psychology program receives a 15 credit hour course release as approved by the Dean each academic year.
