Job Description

The Department of Educational Studies within the College of Education at Purdue University invites applications for a 9-month, non-tenure position, Clinical Assistant Professor in its APA-accredited counseling psychology doctoral program. We are seeking applicants who can contribute to our college's vision of discovering and developing human potential through impactful research, teaching, and engagement. Purdue University is classified as a "very high research activity" institution and has received the 2026 Carnegie Community Engagement classification from the American Council on Education and the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. Responsibilities Teach graduate and undergraduate courses and supervise clinical practica within the counseling psychology program. This position carries a 3:3 teaching load (3 courses in Fall semester, 3 courses in Spring semester). Engage in mentoring activities with students in the doctoral program. Serve on program, department, and college committees and participate in other College of Education activities as appropriate, which might include forming collaborations with faculty, attending speaker series, and contributing to program area and departmental activities and meetings. Qualifications Applicants for the position must hold an earned doctorate from an APA-accredited program in counseling psychology or a related field by the position start date and demonstrate evidence of effective teaching ability. The successful candidate must either be licensed or license-eligible in the State of Indiana. A willingness to assume future leadership roles in the program is desired. At Purdue University, clinical faculty are full members of the university faculty with multi-year contracts, promotion capabilities, and a variety of resources and programming available to them. Salary Salary and benefits commensurate with qualifications and experience.
