Assistant/Associate Professor of Psychology—Psychology Department

Position Available Nine-month, full-time, Assistant or Associate Professor of Psychology with a clinical emphasis. Salary, basedon qualifications and experience, is determined by the Vice President for Academic Affairs and University President and approved by theRegional University System of Oklahoma (RUSO). General Information Northwestern Oklahoma StateUniversity is a state-assisted regional institution in the Regional University System of Oklahoma and is accredited by the Higher LearningCommission. The student population is approximately 2,100 students. Located in Alva, Oklahoma, and with additional campus locations inEnid and Woodward, the university is a center of activity for the region. With a presence at the Alva, Enid, and Woodward campuslocations via in-person and remote course offerings, the Department of Psychology is well-positioned to serve students from rural northwestOklahoma. Available August 2026 Job Summary The successful candidate will be based ateither the Alva or Enid campus location, teaching courses on-site in counselor education and mental health counseling. We seek applicantswith a commitment to teaching and mentoring undergraduates as well as developing counselors-in-training pursuing masters' degrees and/orprofessional licensure(s). Duties and Responsibilities The successful candidate should be prepared to teach at least fourclasses in psychology per semester, with summer school teaching opportunities available but not required. Full-time positions include anexpectation of committee participation and student-advisement beginning the second year of employment. Teaching responsibilities includeteaching a range of undergraduate and graduate-level courses including integrated courses related to mental health and addictions counselingspecialty areas. The faculty member will collaborate with other faculty members on ongoing program and curriculum development. Supervisionresponsibilities include observing and mentoring graduate candidates in local public schools and mental health agencies, and providing groupand/or triadic supervision as needed. Advising responsibilities include mentoring MCP (master of counseling psychology) candidates andmeeting with prospective students. Preferred Qualifications Experience as a full-time faculty member in a counseloreducation program; research interests or professional experience in evidence-based, culturally responsive interventions; CACREP or MPCACaccreditation expertise; ability to contribute to program assessment, accreditation processes, and curriculum development; experience and/ortraining in online curriculum design and delivery; active involvement or willingness to engage in professional counseling organizations(e.g., American Counseling Association or state affiliates); knowledge of ethical standards and legal issues in counseling (e.g.,familiarity with American Counseling Association Code of Ethics and Oklahoma licensure laws); and experience providing clinical supervision,or eligibility/training to provide supervision to practicum/internship students. Minimum Qualifications Earned doctorate incounselor education or commitment to obtain a doctorate in counselor education (preferably from a CACREP- or MPCAC-accredited program) ORdoctoral degree in a related field; licensed/certified or eligible to be licensed in Oklahoma as a Licensed Professional Counselor, orcertified or eligible to be certified as a Licensed Alcohol & Drug Counselor (LADC), or actively pursuing licensure; experience teachingstudents with diverse learning needs or demonstrated understanding of working with diverse populations; experience teaching in highereducation (online, hybrid, or face-to-face), or demonstrated potential for effective teaching; ability to teach core counseling courses(e.g., techniques, ethics, practicum/internship); and demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and communitypartners.
