Professoriate Staff Applications are invited for appointment as Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Social Psychology in the Department of Psychology (

536202), to commence on December 1, 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter, on a three-year fixed-term basis with the possibility of renewal and with consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second three-year fixed-term contract. As the first psychology department in Hong Kong, established in 1968, our department has a rich history of academic excellence. Ranked 3 rd in Asia and 35 th worldwide in the 2026 QS World University Ranking in the subject of Psychology, our 25 faculty members and over 100 research postgraduates and postdoctoral fellows actively engage in a wide range of research areas, including clinical and health psychology, cognitive psychology and neuropsychology, developmental and educational psychology, human neuroscience and artificial intelligence, as well as social and personality psychology. Our department offers comprehensive undergraduate, taught postgraduate, MPhil, and PhD programs in psychology. We also support open science and strive for high integrity, trustworthy, replicable and reproducible research. We value diverse research methodologies. Further information about the Department can be obtained at https://psychology.hku.hk/ . Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Social Psychology or a closely related field. Preference will be given to candidates with a strong record of bridging basic and translational research, especially those whose work emphasizes the Asian cultural context and its influence on psychological processes. Additionally, demonstrated excellence in teaching is considered an essential qualification for this role, reflecting our commitment to fostering an outstanding educational environment. The appointee is expected to maintain an active research programme, and be responsible for teaching courses and supervising students at both graduate and undergraduate levels, as well as contributing to the administration of the Department and academic programmes. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract- end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary.
