PSYCHOLOGY DEPARTMENT Position Number F0524A Job Description The Department of Psychology in the College of Sciences at Old Dominion University (ODU) invites applicants for an Assistant Professor in Clinical Psychology. This is an annual, 10-month tenure-track appointment. The faculty member will support the Clinical Psychology concentration in our Ph.D. program as part of a multiple position hiring initiative within the department. This faculty member will be responsible for: Conducting high quality, programmatic research. Seeking external research funding. Teaching undergraduate courses to support the undergraduate psychology curriculum at ODU. Teaching graduate courses in the Psychology Department. Mentoring Ph.D. students. Position Type FullTime Type of Recruitment General Public Type of Recruitment General Public Minimum required education and/or special licenses, registrations, trainings, or certifications Have a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology, or a closely related field, from a program accredited by APA, PCSAS, CPA, or another similar psychology accrediting body by the position start date. Minimum required level and type of experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities Demonstrate strong potential for developing an independent, funded research program. Show accomplishments in and/or potential for quality teaching and mentoring at the graduate and undergraduate level. Preferred Qualifications Has a research program that expands and complements those of current Clinical Psychology faculty in the department. We are particularly interested in applicants with expertise in one or more foundational areas of clinical psychology, including but not limited to developmental psychopathology, mood disorders, anxiety and related disorders, personality disorders, serious mental illness, or other major areas of psychological dysfunction and mental health that are not currently covered in our department but complement existing faculty research interests. Is able to start this position on July 25, 2027 , one of ODU's standard start dates for tenure-track faculty.
