Work Schedule:
190-day contract. Teachers may periodically be required to attend after-school or evening events as a normal expectation of their position. Work schedule is 7:30-3:30 but may be required to attend after-school or before school events as a normal expectation of their position.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide targeted, intentional, and high-quality interventions to students in need of intensive instruction for struggling readers. Utilize High Quality Instructional Materials (HQIM) for instruction to students. Work cooperatively and collaboratively with the curriculum department and building administrators in planning programs to meet the needs of struggling readers. Provide on-going data analysis of student interventions for evidence of student achievement. Analyze school literacy data and collaborate with building administrators on the use of data for placement of students. Serve on the Response to Intervention (RTI) committee, as needed. Develop individualized intervention plans based on assessment data and student needs. Document interventions and progress on each student. Administer approved screeners for students to determine if placement is needed Participate in parent conferences throughout the year and provide instructional suggestions to support students' reading goals Assist with the planning, development, and implementation of school-wide literacy initiatives and programs Serve as a resource in the area of reading for paraprofessionals, teachers, administrators, and the community. Stay current on best practices and research in reading instruction and intervention Participate in Professional Learning Communities. Perform other duties as assigned by the building administrator/curriculum team. Maintain professional standards of behavior.
QUALIFICATIONS
Valid, current teaching license for grade levels P-4 Proficient in the Science of Reading
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze and interpret information. Ability to effectively communicate and respond to questions from students, administrators, staff, and the general public.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in multiple situations. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written and oral form.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to apply knowledge of current research to instructional programs. Ability to plan and implement lessons plans based on district and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents. Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies. Ability to analyze screeners and testing data for use in making curricular decisions.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education:
Bachelor's Degree (four-year college or technical school), Masters in Reading preferred, but not required.

Computer Skills:
Shall be able to demonstrate an acceptable level of proficiency with computers and programs associated with the position.
Certifications & Licenses:
All teachers must have a valid, Arkansas teaching license for the grade level/subject matter assignment.
