Jul 31, 2026 Job Description 6-10 Literacy Interventionist Position Summary The Literacy Interventionist supports students in grades 6-10 by providing targeted reading intervention and literacy instruction designed to improve reading achievement and support academic success across content areas. The interventionist works directly with students through Strategic Reading classes, small-group interventions, and individualized support while collaborating with teachers to implement effective literacy practices and interventions within the classroom setting. The Literacy Interventionist serves as a resource for students, teachers, and administrators by assisting with literacy screening, progress monitoring, intervention planning, and implementation of evidence-based reading strategies aligned to district goals and the Science of Reading. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Student Support and Instruction Teach Strategic Reading courses and other intervention classes designed to improve reading proficiency. Provide targeted reading interventions for students identified through district screening and assessment data. Deliver small-group and individualized instruction focused on reading comprehension, vocabulary development, fluency, and foundational literacy skills as needed. Monitor student progress and adjust interventions based on data and student needs. Maintain records of intervention services and student progress. Teacher Collaboration and Support Collaborate with classroom teachers to identify students in need of literacy support. Assist teachers in implementing evidence-based reading interventions and instructional strategies within core classrooms. Model effective literacy instructional practices and intervention techniques. Support teachers in analyzing literacy data and selecting appropriate interventions. Participate in problem-solving and intervention planning meetings. Data and Assessment Assist with administration and analysis of literacy screening and diagnostic assessments. Monitor student progress using district-approved assessment tools. Use assessment data to identify instructional needs and recommend intervention supports. Collaborate with administrators, counselors, and teachers to monitor student growth and intervention effectiveness. Program Support Support implementation of district literacy initiatives and intervention programs. Participate in professional learning related to literacy instruction and intervention. Assist with communication regarding student progress when appropriate. Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal or district administration. Qualifications Required Valid Arkansas teaching license. Demonstrated knowledge of literacy instruction and intervention practices. Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills. Ability to analyze student data and use data to inform instruction. Preferred Certification in Reading, English Language Arts, Elementary Education, Special Education, or a related field. Training in the Science of Reading and evidence-based literacy practices. Experience providing intervention services for struggling readers. Experience working within an
MTSS/RTI
framework. Physical Requirements Ability to perform duties associated with classroom instruction and student support. Ability to move between classrooms and instructional settings throughout the school day. Terms of Employment Contract days and salary determined according to district salary schedule and board policy. Reports to the Building Principal or designee.
