Structured Literacy Coach Children of Valor Washington, DC Job Details Part-time | Contract $40 - $75 an hour 5 hours ago Qualifications Curriculum development Literacy education Classroom experience Lesson planning Collaborative teaching Teaching Instructional design Full Job Description Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Literacy Coach to join the Valor Tutoring team. We are seeking an Orton-Gillingham (or other) certified Structured Literacy Specialist to coach and tutor. We provide tutoring for children of military families and we have two elementary students that are in need of this specialized support. The Literacy Coach will play a vital role in enhancing literacy education to our students, focusing on curriculum development, instructional design, and effective teaching strategies. This position requires strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, students, and families to foster a love of reading and writing. Duties Develop and implement an individualized literacy program tailored to meet the diverse needs of students. Design effective lesson plans that incorporate literacy education into various subjects, including math. Support special education initiatives by adapting literacy strategies for students with disabilities. Engage in tutoring sessions with students to reinforce literacy skills and promote academic success. Foster a positive learning environment that encourages student engagement and conflict management skills. Qualifications Proven experience in teaching or tutoring, with a strong background in literacy education. Familiarity with curriculum development, instructional design, and lesson planning techniques. Experience working with children, including preschool or toddler care settings. Knowledge of special education practices and working with individuals with disabilities is preferred. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively engage with students, parents, and staff. Classroom experience demonstrating effective behavior management strategies. Ability to utilize learning technology effectively in instructional settings.
