Education:
Master's Degree in Special Education, Speech-Language Pathology, Reading, Middle/High Grades ELA Content Field or a related fieldRequired Experience:
Have training in at least one structured literacy program (e.g., TTT, OG, LETRS, Wilson)- Highly Preferred. Have experience in middle/high grades educational programs and/or programs for language and literacy

RESPONSIBLE TO
Director or Structured LearningESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Science of Reading (SoR) Facilitator is responsible for leading the transformation of literacy practices with school coaches and administrators to build literacy infrastructure at the classroom, school, and district level. Specifically, the SoR Facilitator will work closely with systems and school-level leaders, literacy coaches, teachers, and other instructional staff to design and execute a plan to ensure the Science of Teaching Reading is realized across the system, including assessment, tiered instruction, intervention, professional development, and data.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Content Support:
Serve as facilitator (i.e., trainer, coach/mentor, and consultant) for the faculty and staff at MMS, MSGA and MHS. Assist leadership at the school and district level in formulating their professional development goals to ensure that language and literacy instruction is research-based and effective. Deliver content knowledge about language and literacy through staff- wide and grade-level training, data-focused professional learning communities, and needs-based modeling and observations.

Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent public speaking skills. Action-oriented, collaborative, ?exible, and innovative approach to coaching and mentoring. High aspirations for all children to be successful and emplowered. Proven leadership skills and the ability to understand young children's comprehensive language and literacy issues in various settings. Excellent written and oral communication skills and a keen interest in working with students, teachers, coaches, and administrators in various settings.Physical Demands:
Frequent walking, sitting, and standing for extended periods. Ability to lift and carry instructional materials and equipment up to 25 pounds. Dexterity to write on a board, operate a computer, and use other classroom technology. Occasional bending, stooping, and reaching. Clear speech and hearing abilities for effective communication.
