Part-Time/Seasonal Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Speech Coach to lead and develop our high school speech team in accordance with the Iowa High School Speech Association (IHSSA) guidelines. The ideal candidate will foster a supportive environment for students to enhance their public speaking, acting, and performance skills while preparing them for individual and large-group speech competitions.
Responsibilities:
Coach students in various IHSSA speech categories for both large group as well as individual season. Organize and lead regular practice sessions, offering constructive feedback and skill development. Oversee competition preparation, including script selection, speech writing, and performance techniques. Coordinate team registration and travel for IHSSA contests. Foster a positive and inclusive team culture that encourages student growth and confidence. Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school administration regarding schedules, progress, and expectations.
Qualifications:
Strong background in speech, drama, communications, or a related field. Experience coaching or participating in speech or theater(preferred). Ability to mentor and inspire high school students. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Knowledge of IHSSA rules and competition structure (or willingness to learn). How to
