Job Description

Communications Instructor (Full-time) Rend Lake College is seeking an engaging and student-centered Communications Instructor to inspire and develop students' communication skills. This role includes teaching assigned courses, fostering dynamic classroom discussions, developing curriculum, and assessing student learning outcomes. The instructor will also support student success through advising, mentorship, and participation in campus initiatives. The ideal candidate is passionate about communication, committed to student achievement, and thrives in a collaborative, academic environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Teach lecture and/or laboratory classes as assigned. Maintain syllabi, attendance records, contact hours, roster, grades, and student evaluations. Prepare and submit documentation as requested. Select, order, prepare, and maintain necessary materials, supplies, and equipment, which aid in the actual classroom instruction. Supervise and maintain related laboratories and laboratory equipment. Develop and update curriculum as needed. Hold office hours as assigned for the purpose of counseling with students concerning course work. Perform assessment of student learning and participate in college wide assessment program. Participate in professional development activities both on campus and off campus as requested. Keep abreast of current trends and information in subject area. Maintain any required program certifications Develop and teach competency-based communications courses. Remain in compliance with accreditation board or governing agency as required by program // This is a 36 - week, full-time, tenure track position.
