Job Description
## Overview The reading specialist at Grace Lutheran School (GLS) is a part-time position. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: ## Duties Provide support to teachers and provide strategies to improve instruction that will support literacy growth across the curriculum in accordance with the school decided literacy program: UFLI Assist struggling students to improve their literacy skills Collaborates with teachers in all departments to promote the learning and implementation of best practices in literacy instruction Examine data to measure the success of literacy programs and instruction alongside guidance from our Redwood Roots partner. Teach targeted literacy intervention to small groups of students daily using UFLI, research-based strategies and other resources Conduct individual and school wide assessments in order to evaluate levels and targeted interventions Review student achievement and assist with placing students in appropriate reading and writing intervention and support services Meet regularly with the classroom teachers to plan literacy instruction that correlates with the individual student's needs or as requested by the classroom teacher ## Educational Requirements A bachelor's degree with a degree or related endorsement in special education ## Expectations As an educator in a Christian school, a GLS teacher is also expected to… Establish a caring relationship with each student Share personal faith with students and colleagues Have words and actions that exemplify Christian conduct Attend church and school events in support of students
