QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
PEL with Self-Contained GED K-9 endorsement required; Reading Teacher or Reading Specialist endorsement preferred.
SUMMARY:
The Reading Intervention Teacher will promote, develop and provide high-level literacy learning experiences to struggling readers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Implements a variety of assessment instruments to determine instructional needs of students in reading. Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve learning problems. Implements scientific based reading research strategies to enable students to develop the competencies and skills to be successful readers. Works in collaboration classroom teachers, administrators and the district reading team Provides individual and/or group instruction designed to meet individual needs and motivate students. Provides on-going feedback to the parents of students receiving instruction Adapts reading material and methods that guide and challenge students. Selects and requisitions books and instructional aids to the interest and maturity level of students; maintains required inventory records. Encourages students to think independently and to express original ideas. Monitors and evaluates each student's progress. Supervises students in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned workday. Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs. Participates in faculty committees and the sponsorship of student activities. Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and in self-selected professional growth activities. Other duties as assigned.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to video display and regularly works in inside environmental conditions. The employee occasionally works evenings or weekends. The employee is occasionally exposed to outdoors weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud and is a standard acceptable level for this enviroment.
Salary and Benefits:
$225.00 a day with a PEL endorsement or $175.00 a day with a Substitute endorsement. With no benefits.
