GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Title 1 Reading Interventionist will provide reading instruction to students in grades K - 6. The Reading Interventionist will be responsible for providing skill instruction to students working below grade level, will provide consultation to teachers and will assist school-wide efforts in promoting literacy and in raising performance and achievement in student learning.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Diagnosis, Placement, and Evaluation:
1. Collaborate with teachers to identify students appropriate for additional help in reading. 2. Coordinate and/or administer diagnostic tests. 3. Recommend student placement in intervention. 4. Participate in team and parent meetings when appropriate. 5. Provide information and consultation for classroom teachers. 6. Evaluate student progress and report results.
Instruction:
1. Provide direct instruction in reading and in reading strategies to designated groups of students. 2. Design and implement instructional programs for students, according to student needs. 3. Conduct instruction in such ways as to foster skill development and positive self-esteem in students. 4. Coordinate and collaborate with grade level teams and other Title I interventionists 5. Keep necessary records. 6. Work in collaboration with classroom teachers to teach/integrate reading strategies into classrooms,
Communication:
1. Communicate with parents as necessary. 2. Participate in parent meetings, as necessary. 3. Meet with team teachers, other interventionists, and special educators. 4. Review and analyze results of benchmark and diagnostic testing. 5. Keep up to date with newest and best research in reading instruction and help disseminate information to all teachers. 6. Support and guide teachers on developmental reading curriculum.
