All qualified candidates The Middle School Reading Interventionist provides targeted, evidence-based reading instruction to students who are not yet meeting grade-level expectations. This role focuses on accelerating literacy growth through data-driven intervention, collaboration with classroom teachers, and ongoing progress monitoring.REPORTING STRUCTURE
The Reading Interventionist reports to the building principal and the PK-8 Director of Literacy. Qualifications Licensed, or eligible for licensure, as a Reading Specialist, by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education Bachelor's degree, Master's preferred, from an accredited college or university, in Education or related field Experience with intervention programs and progress monitoring tools Background in special education or multilingual learner support Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, to children and adults; Commitment to remain current in content knowledge and teaching strategies Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and in conformity with state certification requirements. Duties Instruction & Intervention Deliver small-group and/or one-on-one reading interventions aligned to students' specific needs Provide push-in classroom support for identified students Use evidence-based practices grounded in the science of reading (e.g., phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension) Differentiate instruction based on student data and individual learning profiles Support students across tiers of intervention (e.g., Tier 2 and Tier 3) Assessment & Data Use Administer and analyze literacy assessments (e.g., STAR Reading, STAR CBM, DIBELS, phonics screeners) Use data to identify students in need of intervention and to form instructional groups Monitor student progress regularly and adjust instruction accordingly Maintain accurate records of student performance and intervention outcomes Collaboration Work closely with classroom teachers, special educators, and EL staff to align instruction Participate in grade-level meetings, PLCs, and data team discussions Communicate student progress and instructional strategies with teachers and families Support teachers in implementing effective literacy practices within the classroom Program Implementation Implement district-approved intervention programs with fidelity (e.g., UFLI Foundations or other structured literacy programs) Assist in developing and refining intervention systems and schedules Contribute to school-wide literacy initiatives and MTSS frameworks Professional Responsibilities Stay current on literacy research and best practices Participate in ongoing professional development Uphold school and district policies and maintain confidentiality Online is our preferred method of application, however, if you wish to apply by mail, please download and print the appropriate application form on our website: https://www.hopkinton.k12.ma.us/employment1 Send your completed application to: Human Resources Hopkinton Public Schools 89 Hayden Rowe St. Hopkinton, MA 01748 Incomplete applications are not able to be considered.
