DEFINITION
The Reading Clinic Teacher reports directly to the Director of Student Services, Student ServicesCoordinators, and is supported through direct coaching provided by a Lindamood-Bell Specialist. These staff members will provide individualized reading tutorials to special education students in both small group and 1:1 settings in the 4 week program.
PREREQUISITE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university required; Master's degree preferred Current Massachusetts's DESE Certification in Moderate Special Needs for corresponding grade levels K-8 preferred Reading Specialist License preferred Training and/or knowledge of various reading programs (Orton-Gillingham, Wilson Reading, Lindamood Bell) preferred Knowledge of research-based best practices and interventions in literacy Experience working in a diverse educational setting, including the ability to work successfully with students, colleagues, and families from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds
SALARY:
$38/hour
WORKING TIME
The Reading Clinic Teacher will be required to work 20 extended school days, at the discretion of the Superintendent, Assistant Superintendents, or Director of Student Services. The length of the workday will be 4.5 hours Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and 4 hours Friday, including 4 hours of instructional time Monday through Friday. Additionally, 0.5 hours of paid coaching time Monday-Thursday. In addition, there will be a 1 hour meeting with Lindamood Bell coaching staff before the program begins and 1 additional hour at the end of the program. The 2026 Summer Clinic Program will run Monday through Friday from July 6, 2026 through July 31, 2026. Attendance for all 20 days of the program is mandatory.
DUTIES:
The Reading Clinic Teacher shall: Attend a consultation meeting with Lindamood Bell specialist/coach prior to the start of the program in June 2026. Review provided tutorial schedule and group rosters. Review data sheet for each assigned student including IEP, Progress Reports, Behavior Plans, and Work Samples prior to the start of the program. Take daily attendance and provide communication with families as necessary for the duration of the program Deliver lessons as designed by Lindamood Bell specialist Collect data in conjunction with planned lessons Participate in ongoing professional development activities Maintain accurate, complete, and correct student records as required by law and district policies. Abide by state statutes, school committee policies, regulations, and WPS Employee Handbook.
