Reading Specialist

Georgetown Preparatory School, the nation's oldest Jesuit high school, is currently seeking a full-time Reading Specialist. The ideal candidate will have a Reading Specialist degree or certificate and experience in the field. The candidate should have experience developing and administering reading assessments, developing and implementing a tiered intervention program to support students, and collaborating with faculty to support student improvement. The Reading Specialist will report to the Academic Dean.

Specific responsibilities include:

Develop, administer, and evaluate a baseline reading assessment for all incoming freshman and transfer students. Set realistic goals and monitor progress for students identified as struggling readers. Provide Tier I, II, and III support for students. Develop, administer, and evaluate a summative reading assessment for graduating seniors. Collaborate with classroom teachers and student support staff on appropriate intervention strategies. Applicants must be enthusiastic, energetic, and willing to work as a member of a team, in conjunction with other members of the faculty across academic departments. The ideal candidate also has experience with and appreciation for the Jesuit model of education, and a desire to train and care for the whole student in accordance with the Jesuit philosophy cura personalis .
