Position Summary Information Job Description Summary Provide quality instruction for a combination of public speaking and interpersonal human communication courses. Each course consists of 3 contact hours. Availability of regular (3 lecture hours a week), hybrid (1.5 hours of lecture and 1.5 hours of online learning), and online courses is dictated by course schedule and instructor availability. Required Qualifications Master's degree in Communications or English, or Master's Degree with 18 credit hours of coursework in the content area. Excellent organization and communication skills Demonstrated use of instructional technology Preferred Qualifications Previous teaching experience
Other Information Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Promote active and collaborative learning through a variety of teaching methods, as well as relate to students. Preparing and delivering lessons using a master syllabus and standardized curriculum. Working comfortably with a diverse student population that includes dual-enrolled high school students, traditional college students, and nontraditional college students. Grading assignments and providing feedback to students in a timely manner. Utilizing a variety of student engagement strategies in the classroom to ensure active student participation. Using Moodle regularly for posting assignments, attendance, and grades. Being proficient with computer technologies, including Microsoft Office and email. Bringing a positive, energetic, and professional attitude into the classroom. Being accessible to students and responding to all in-person and electronic student inquiries. Provide the department with student performance data that is required for regular outcomes assessment. Becoming familiar with rules, regulations, administrative practices, guidelines, and policies of the College. Special Instructions to Applicants Physical Requirements Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation: 1. The physical activity of this position. A. Reaching. Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction. B. Fingering. Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling. C. Grasping. Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound. 2. The physical requirements of this position. Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. 3. The visual acuity requirements including color, depth perception, and field vision. The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading. 4. The conditions the employee will be subject to in this position. The employee is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
