Late August Mon-Fri About Studio Lingua Studio Lingua is a NAEYC-recognized, Reggio-Emilia inspired school where children happen to learn Italian. Founded in Portland, Oregon in 2023, Studio Lingua is a nonprofit full-time Italian bilingual program for children ages 3-6. Our Reggio Emilia approach centers a child-led, emergent curriculum grounded in respect, community, and hands-on exploration — where creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking are at the heart of every day. Teachers serve as co-learners and facilitators, observing and documenting children's ideas and following their curiosity into rich, meaningful projects. At Studio Lingua , the Italian language is woven naturally into this child-centered environment. Led by Italian-speaking teachers, our program gives children an authentic connection to the Italian language — not as a separate subject, but as the living fabric of the school community.

Position overview We are seeking an experienced, passionate educator to join our team as a part-time Kindergarten English Literacy and Math Teacher beginning in late August, ahead of the academic year starting in early September. This role supports a small, focused cohort of Kindergartners with targeted instruction in early literacy and foundational mathematics. This is an hourly, part-time position ideal for a specialist who brings deep expertise in structured literacy and early math instruction and thrives in a close-knit, student-centered setting. Schedule & commitment On-site instruction: 2 hours per day, Monday through Friday (10 hours/week) Additional weekly time allocated for collaborative meetings and lesson planning Start date: late August (prior to the academic year beginning in early September) Responsibilities Deliver structured, sequential early literacy instruction to a small Kindergarten cohort Provide foundational mathematics instruction aligned with best practices in early numeracy Monitor and document individual student progress; adjust instruction as needed Participate in parent - teacher conferences twice a year Collaborate with Studio Lingua staff during weekly planning and team meetings Prepare materials and lesson plans for each instructional session Maintain a positive, structured, and encouraging classroom environment Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Education or certifications and / or demonstrated training and experience Demonstrated experience tutoring or teaching early literacy and/or mathematics at the Kindergarten level Strong knowledge of structured literacy principles and phonics-based reading instruction Familiarity with early numeracy development and conceptual math instruction Ability to work effectively with small groups of young learners Experience working with kindergarten-age children in a classroom setting Familiarity with Oregon Kindergarten learning standards is a plus Strong observational and documentation skills Warm, patient, and reflective approach to teaching and learning Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Knowledge of and genuine enthusiasm for the Reggio Emilia educational philosophy Italian language skills are a plus but not required Experience and training in Singapore Math methodology is a plus Compensation Competitive hourly rate commensurate with experience and qualifications.
