We provide explicit, individualized instruction that breaks down how language works for students who struggle with reading and writing. Many of our students have dyslexia, dysgraphia, ADHD, auditory processing deficits, or other learning differences. We also work with early readers to help build a strong literacy foundation from the start. At ALS, we believe in equipping both students and parents with lifelong tools that promote confidence, independence, and academic success. Position Overview Austin Learning Solutions is seeking a responsible, passionate, and knowledgeable educator with experience in reading instruction and dyslexia intervention to join our team. This position is ideal for a retired teacher, reading specialist, dyslexia therapist, homeschool educator, or classroom teacher looking for after-school and/or Saturday hours. The majority of our students are in grades K-5, though we serve students ages 4-18. Sessions are one-on-one and individualized to each student's needs. The ideal candidate understands how to effectively work with students with dyslexia, dysgraphia, ADHD, executive functioning challenges, and auditory processing deficits. Qualifications Background in reading education, dyslexia intervention, or elementary education Strong understanding of the Science of Reading and explicit phonics instruction Experience teaching reading through a multisensory approach Understanding of proper handwriting instruction and foundational literacy skills Ability to build strong relationships with students and families Willingness to learn and implement ALS instructional methods (Phono-Graphix) Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills Schedule Sessions available between 11:00 AM - 6:30 PM Most requested hours are 2:30 PM - 6:30 PM during the school year Looking for availability at least 2 weekdays (Monday-Thursday preferred) and/or Saturdays Flexible scheduling available It may take several months to build a consistent caseload depending on how many students are would like to see. Responsibilities Provide high-quality, individualized one-on-one instruction Create engaging, targeted lessons based on assessments and student progress Monitor student growth and adjust instruction as needed Communicate student progress with parents, students, and colleagues Maintain professionalism, punctuality, and preparedness Respond to emails and texts in a timely manner and maintain open communication with team members Foster a positive, encouraging learning environment for students and families Work Environment One-on-one sessions only (no group instruction) Supportive and collaborative team environment Casual yet professional atmosphere Opportunities for continued learning and professional growth If you are passionate about helping struggling readers grow into confident learners, we would love to hear from you.
