//www.monticelloacademy.net/teacher-recruitment/ One position would be to support below grade level readers in grades 5th-8th during our literacy block as the instructor for a program called "REWARDS". During this time, small groups of students may be pulled from the main class after attendance for targeted supports. This position is responsible for instruction and assessment for the below grade level readers for a small pull out group. The other position would be to run larger class-sized groups duiring literacy block for students who read on grade level and above using Jr. Great Books Curriculum. Both teachers would work closely together to plan, monitor, and assess students' needs and groupings.
Schedule:
29 hours per week
Monday-Friday Candidates:
We are looking for applicants who are passionate about student learning, collaboration, and using data to guide instruction. We look for teachers who love to learn and grow themselves and regularly look for opportunities to develop themselves professionally. We are looking for someone with excellent classroom management, teacher clarity of lessons, ideas for daily formative assessments and checks for understanding and someone who has experience with a wide range of ages. We are looking for someone with experience teaching language arts who is flexible and able to collaborate with multiple people each day.
Curriculum:
We use REWARDS reading program to support below grade level readers and Jr. Great Books for our on level and above readers in grades 5-8. We follow the Core Knowledge Sequence, which spells out rich content knowledge for every grade level. Students don't just learn bland "skills." They learn real history, science, and literature in every grade level, from Ancient Egypt in 1st grade to Medieval History in 4th grade. Every year students delve into exciting content knowledge that they just don't get in other schools. Students get consistent, quality instruction in visual art, music, physical education, and computer science. Our "specials" teachers collaborate regularly with classroom teachers to integrate with and support the core curriculum. They are not siloed; they are an integral part of our program.
College Prep:
We are a college-prep school, which means we challenge students; hold them to high, measurable standards; and accelerate learning wherever possible. We also offer rich specials courses that support our Core Knowledge program.
Collaboration:
We work to bring our teachers together to collaborate as much as possible. This unique position will require this candidate to work with the English Language Arts teachers and the other reading teacher to ensure instruction is supporting student learning.
