Reading Specialist

  • Part-time About Chesapeake Bay Academy Chesapeake Bay Academy (CBA) transforms the lives of students with learning differences by providing individualized, evidence-based education in a supportive and nurturing environment.
Our mission is to empower students to reach their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally through innovative teaching practices and a strengths-based approach. Position Overview CBA seeks a dedicated Part-Time Reading Specialist for our Summer Intensive Reading Program . This program provides targeted literacy instruction to students who benefit from specialized support in reading and language development. The Reading Specialist will deliver structured, research-based interventions in small-group and one-on-one settings to improve reading fluency, comprehension, encoding/decoding and confidence.

    8:00am
  • 12:00pm Responsibilities Implement individualized reading instruction using evidence-based strategies and programs.
Assess student progress and adjust instruction to meet individual needs. Collaborate with program staff to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning environment. Communicate effectively with families regarding student progress and strategies for continued growth. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Reading or Special Education (Master's preferred). Certification or endorsement in Reading Specialist or Literacy Instruction. Experience working with students with learning differences and/or dyslexia. Strong knowledge of structured literacy approaches (e.g., Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, or similar). Application Instructions Submit your resume and letter of interest to:
