187-day Position Summary The Reading Interventionist provides targeted, evidence-based literacy instruction to students who require additional support in developing foundational and/or advanced reading skills. Working in collaboration with classroom teachers and support staff, this role focuses on accelerating student growth in areas such as phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. Responsibilities Deliver small group and/or one-on-one reading interventions aligned to student needs Use assessment data to identify skill gaps and progress monitor student growth Implement research-based literacy strategies and intervention programs Collaborate with classroom teachers to align instruction and support differentiated learning Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate updates with staff and families as appropriate Support the development of individualized learning plans or intervention strategies Participate in
MTSS/RTI
processes and team meetings Foster a positive, encouraging learning environment that builds student confidence and engagement Contribute to a positive, inclusive learning environment that supports student engagement and growth Use basic computer or technology tools to support classroom documentation, communication, and program needs. Knowledge/Skils Applicants with experience or knowledge in the following areas will be favorably considered Experience working within a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework Background in delivering academic interventions for struggling learners Familiarity with progress monitoring tools and data systems Training or experience in evidence-based literacy intervention programs Ability to collaborate effectively within professional learning communities (PLCs) or instructional teams Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field, required. Master's degree, preferred. Valid Vermont Teaching License (or ability to obtain), required with endorsement in one or more of the following areas: Reading Specialist/Coordinator Secondary English Specialized Reading Professional Special Education Demonstrated knowledge of: English Language Arts instruction Assessment tools and data analysis to inform instruction Differentiated instruction and intervention strategies Physical Requirements Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods and move throughout the facility as required to perform job duties Ability to sit, bend, stoop, reach, and perform repetitive motions related to teaching tasks Ability to lift and carry materials and equipment weighing up to approximately 25 pounds Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and families in person and through various communication methods Ability to operate standard classroom and office equipment, including computers and instructional technology Ability to maintain regular attendance Schedule and duties may vary based on assignment and school needs Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.
