Our Achievement Gap Reduction Teacher serves as a critical lever in ensuring students who have historically experienced barriers to success receive the instructional support, advocacy, and opportunities necessary to thrive. CH Bird Elementary School is a Title I school serving approximately 271 students in grades K-5. Approximately 45% of students qualify for free and reduced lunch. Position Overview The Achievement Gap Reduction Teacher is a member of CH Bird's instructional leadership system and serves in multiple capacities to improve outcomes for students.
This position includes:
Teaching core literacy and/or mathematics instruction Providing Tier II and Tier III intervention services Coaching and supporting colleagues around effective instructional practices Analyzing student data and supporting instructional decision-making Helping build and strengthen schoolwide systems that accelerate student achievement The successful candidate will be a highly skilled educator who understands that closing achievement gaps requires both strong instruction and strong adult practice. This individual will work alongside teachers, interventionists, and leadership teams to ensure students receive timely, targeted, and effective support. At CH Bird, we believe achievement gaps are not student deficits—they are challenges for adults and systems to solve. Primary Responsibilities High-Quality Core Instruction Provide exemplary standards-aligned literacy and/or mathematics instruction. Establish classrooms and learning environments characterized by high expectations, strong relationships, and student engagement. Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners. Utilize evidence-based instructional practices that accelerate student growth. Foster student ownership, confidence, and perseverance. Targeted Intervention Services Deliver evidence-based Tier II and Tier III interventions to individual students and small groups. Identify student learning needs through ongoing assessment and progress monitoring. Adjust instructional plans based on student response to intervention. Maintain accurate intervention records and communicate progress regularly with teachers and families. Ensure intervention services are delivered with urgency, consistency, and fidelity. Coaching and Capacity Building Partner with classroom teachers to strengthen instructional practices and student outcomes. Support colleagues in the implementation of evidence-based literacy and mathematics strategies. Model instructional routines, co-plan lessons, and provide classroom-based support. Assist teams in analyzing student work and assessment data to identify instructional priorities. Serve as a collaborative thought partner focused on continuous improvement and student success. Data Analysis and Progress Monitoring Collect, analyze, and interpret student achievement data to inform instruction and intervention. Participate actively in Professional Learning Teams and data cycles. Monitor progress toward schoolwide achievement goals. Help identify trends, barriers, and opportunities for improvement. Support teams in making data-informed decisions that lead to measurable student growth. Systems Development and Continuous Improvement Contribute to the design, implementation, and refinement of CH Bird's intervention and instructional support systems. Collaborate with administration, instructional coaches, student services staff, and classroom teachers to strengthen schoolwide practices. Help ensure alignment between core instruction, intervention services, and student support structures. Support implementation of CH Bird's SP100 priorities and continuous improvement efforts. Demonstrate leadership in advancing equitable outcomes for all students. Qualifications Required:
Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. Wisconsin DPI Teaching License. Demonstrated expertise in literacy and/or mathematics instruction. Knowledge of assessment, progress monitoring, and intervention practices. Strong collaboration and communication skills.
Preferred:
Reading Teacher or Reading Specialist License. Experience providing instructional coaching or leadership. Experience with intervention systems and MTSS frameworks. Experience working in Title I schools. Experience supporting diverse student populations. Bilingual Spanish-speaking candidates encouraged to apply. Why CH Bird?
