QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's Degree in Education and valid WV teaching certificate. A minimum of three years successful experience as a Title I teacher or classroom teacher in a Title I school.

Building Administrator(s)
SUPPORT RELATIONSHIPS
The Curriculum Specialist works directly with the Title I and classroom teachers and works cooperatively with school personnel as necessary to deliver the Title I program in the school.
JOB GOAL
The Title I Curriculum Specialist will guide the efforts of Title I and classroom teachers in curricular development and delivery and assessment of appropriate prescribed instruction to students receiving Title I services; facilitate teacher professional development as determined by student achievement and local and state initiatives, and provide focused support to students in need of academic achievement improvement.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
1) Assists Title I and classroom teachers in preliminary diagnosis, prescription and implementation of interventions by conducting extensive data analysis of student achievement and classroom performance. 2) Provides instructional support to identified students or groups of students as needed or assigned. 3) Confers with building principals, parents, Title I and classroom teachers concerning the evaluation and progress of students. 4) Works with Title I teachers in such areas as implementation of instruction, tutoring, and the development of materials. 5) Plans and conducts professional development for Title I and classroom teachers and assists in developing building-level professional development and/or faculty meetings. 6) Conducts demonstration lessons and models instructional strategies and techniques to classroom and Title I teachers. 7) Functions as a resource person to school personnel in the coordination of the school teams, professional and community groups, and parent involvement. 8) Examines, recommends, and requests purchases of materials and equipment which are particularly suited to the needs of students and assists the Title I teachers in ordering such materials. 9) Works with classroom teachers in the correlation of the Title I program with the general curriculum. 10) Assists in developing a timeline for program development, implementation and evaluation. 11) Participates in meetings regarding the Kanawha County Title I program with members of federal, regional, state and county personnel in the review, implementation, and evaluation of the Title I instructional program. 12) Works cooperatively with the Director of Federal Programs; Title I specialists; Title I Coordinator, and the Title I Secretary in all Title I matters. 13) Assists in the design, development and implementation of curriculum workshops for Parent Involvement. 14) Utilizes self-appraisal for the improvement of administrative skills. 15) Demonstrates unbiased attitudes in fulfilling responsibilities. 16) Accepts other responsibilities as assigned by in accordance with Title I guidelines. 17) Assists in planning, development, and implementation of any additional Title I programs for students and teachers.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
220 days Salary in accordance with established KCS pay schedule for Special Instructional Assignment (SPIA).

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of
WVDE SBE
Policy 5310.
