Work Unit:
The Department of Health and Exercise Science (HES) is one of eight academic programs in the College of Health and Human Sciences. Colorado State University is Colorado's land grant institution and holds the Doctoral/Research University - Extensive classification from the Carnegie Commission on Higher Education. Health and Exercise Science is focused on a three- part mission of undergraduate and graduate teaching, research and scholarly work and outreach/engagement/service. We are committed to our goal of producing nationally and internationally recognized research programs and graduates that are focused on helping people protect and improve their health and quality of life throughout the lifespan. The Department has ~1060 undergraduate majors, ~ 30 M.S. and Ph.D. students, ~15-20 academic and research staff and 25 faculty members. Faculty in the Department of Health and Exercise Science have a strong commitment to high-quality teaching and advising and conduct innovative research with an emphasis on basic, translational, and clinical work to prevent aging- related disease and disability and maximize human functional performance. The Human Performance Clinical Research Laboratory, the research hub for HES, is a CSU Program of Research and Scholarly Excellence and a center for interdisciplinary research, training, and outreach. HES also has a strong focus on community engagement, including aa Adult Fitness Program, Fit Cancer, Muscles Alive!, Performance Health Testing, and Youth Sports Camps. Essential Job Duties:
Teach up to 4 undergraduate classes or sections during the Spring and Fall semesters in the areas of exercise physiology, human physiology, and pathophysiology. Summer teaching options are also available if interested. Work with other instructors to maintain consistent high quality and learning outcomes in courses taught by multiple instructors, including developing syllabi and other materials. Provide weekly student office hours. Meet with and advise students regarding careers in healthcare, fitness, etc. Work to develop opportunities with industry, health care providers and other entities to infuse hands-on experiences into the curriculum for our students Serve on HES departmental committees Provide strong support for HES student-oriented events like the Homecoming 5K race, HES Fest and the departmental newsletter Represent HES in campus and community outreach capacities (e.g. occasionally give presentations to the community on physical activity and health related topics)

None Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree in an appropriate discipline. At least one year teaching undergraduate courses in content area at the college or university level as the instructor of record (after completion of master's degree). Experience in managing and developing course curriculum and developing academic support materials, such as recitation or supplemental instruction.
Preferred Job Qualifications:
Knowledge of certifications (e.g.
ACSM, NSCA
), in the health and wellness industry. Familiarity with modern learning technologies and/or classroom strategies for promoting student success. Experience teaching in various platforms and environments - resident instruction, online and hybrid.
