The Environmental Analysis Department at Pomona College invites applications for a one-year, non-tenure track, Visiting Instructor or Assistant Professor of Environmental Science and Environmental Analysis. The position is full-time and has a teaching load of five courses for the academic year. The successful candidate will teach and further develop the following courses: Introduction to Environmental Analysis;Environmental Science:
Sciences that Resist the Eurocene (project-based, interdisciplinary); and, a GIS-focused course offered in collaboration with the EA Program and the Claremont Colleges community. Pomona College is a selective liberal arts institution and a member of the Claremont Colleges consortium. Located in Los Angeles County, Pomona offers access to a wide range of natural and urban environments, including coastal ecosystems, deserts, mountains, and California sage scrub, as well as the Bernard Field Station, a 45â'acre ecological preserve adjacent to campus. The College provides strong support for experiential learning, community-engaged research, and innovative undergraduate teaching.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Education--Required:
Applicants should hold a doctorate (completed or in progress) in biology, ecology, environmental science, or a closely related field in hand by July 1, 2026; ABD welcome to apply.Teaching Experience--Preferred:
Prior teaching experience is preferred, and we especially welcome candidates enthusiastic about working with a diverse undergraduate population and contributing to an inclusive learning environment.TO APPLY

Instruction begins on Monday, August 31, 2026 for the fall semester and on Tuesday, January 19th, 2027 for the spring semester. After submitting proof of work authorization and completing onboarding, Visiting Assistant Professors are expected to prepare for their classes and attend the New Faculty Orientation, held in the weeks before classes start in the fall. This non-tenure-track position is instructional and does not require student advising, faculty service or participation in faculty governance.ADA/OSHA
