Computer Science Teacher Kenter Canyon Elementary School Los Angeles, CA Job Details Full-time $29 - $30 an hour 21 hours ago Qualifications Teamwork Teaching math Teaching Certification Bachelor's degree Computer hardware Full Job Description Computer Science Teacher-- This is a 30 hour Position Kenter Canyon Charter Elementary School Position Summary The Computer Science Teacher is responsible for designing and delivering engaging, culturally relevant, and interdisciplinary technology instruction for elementary school students in grades K-5. The teacher develops students' computational thinking, digital literacy, problem-solving, keyboarding, productivity software, and introductory coding skills aligned with the California Computer Science Standards and Framework. This position supports students in becoming confident digital citizens and creative problem-solvers through hands-on learning experiences that integrate technology across academic subjects. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Instruction and Curriculum Development Design and implement age-appropriate computer science and technology lessons aligned with the California Computer Science Standards.
Deliver instruction in:
o Computational thinking o Digital citizenship and internet safety o Keyboarding and foundational computer skills o Productivity software including Microsoft Office and Google Workspace applications o Coding and programming concepts o Multimedia creation and presentation tools o Robotics, STEM, and project-based learning activities where applicable Integrate technology instruction with core academic subjects including math, science, literacy, and social studies. Differentiate instruction to support diverse learning needs, English learners, and students with disabilities. Create engaging classroom environments that encourage creativity, collaboration, and innovation. Student Learning and Assessment Monitor and assess student progress using formative and summative assessments. Provide timely feedback to students regarding academic progress and digital skill development. Support students in developing responsible and ethical technology use practices Classroom and Technology Management Maintain an organized, safe, and effective computer lab or technology classroom environment. Support proper care and use of school technology devices and equipment. Troubleshoot basic hardware and software issues as needed. Ensure compliance with school technology policies and acceptable use guidelines. Collaboration and School Community Collaborate with classroom teachers to support technology integration across the curriculum. Participate in school-wide initiatives, mandatory meetings and safety drills. Communicate effectively with students, staff, and families. Support school events, showcases, and student technology projects. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university or completion of 30 semester units or 40 quarter units from a recognized college or university. Experience using educational technology tools and platforms. Strong classroom management and communication skills. Preferred Experience teaching computer science or technology to elementary-aged students. Familiarity with coding platforms such as Scratch, Code.org, robotics kits, or similar instructional tools. Experience integrating culturally responsive teaching practices into STEM instruction. Knowledge of the California Computer Science Standards and Framework. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to teach foundational computer science concepts in developmentally appropriate ways. Ability to foster curiosity, creativity, and collaboration among students. Strong organizational and instructional planning skills. Ability to analyze student learning data to guide instruction. Effective interpersonal and communication skills. Work Environment Classroom and/or computer lab setting in an elementary school environment. Frequent use of computers, instructional technology, and multimedia equipment. Regular interaction with students, staff, and families. Compensation Salary and benefits are competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.
