Job Description

Description St. John of God Catholic School is seeking a faith-filled, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic Junior High Math & Science Teacher to join our school community. The ideal candidate will foster academic excellence, encourage critical thinking, and support the spiritual, social, and emotional development of students in grades 6-8. This teacher will create engaging lessons that inspire curiosity, collaboration, and a love of learning while integrating Catholic values into daily instruction. Primary Responsibilities Teach junior high mathematics and science courses for grades 6-8. Develop and implement engaging, standards-based lesson plans aligned with school curriculum and California State Standards. Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students. Use a variety of instructional strategies, technology tools, and hands-on learning experiences to support student engagement and achievement. Assess student learning regularly and maintain accurate academic records. Communicate effectively with students, parents, administration, and colleagues regarding student progress and classroom expectations. Maintain a positive, organized, and safe classroom environment rooted in respect and Catholic values. Collaborate with faculty and staff to support schoolwide initiatives and student success. Participate in faculty meetings, professional development opportunities, school events, and campus supervision duties. Support and uphold the mission and philosophy of Catholic education. Requirements Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Education, Mathematics, Science, or a related field. Experience teaching middle school or junior high students preferred. Strong classroom management and organizational skills. Knowledge of effective instructional practices in mathematics and science education. Supportive of the mission and values of Catholic education. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience in a Catholic school setting. Valid teaching credential or eligibility to obtain one preferred. Coaching or extracurricular experience is a plus. Wage Range The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
