The Oakland Emiliano Zapata Street Academy, born out of the Civil Rights and Black Power Movements, has partnered with the Oakland Unified School District as a semi-autonomus OUSD school for over 50 years. We provide social justice-centered instruction in an alternative school in Oakland and for Bay Area youth.
STREET ACADEMY FOUNDATION JOB SUMMARY
High School Math (Algebra 1-2; Geometry, Math Analysis) and/or Life Science Who we're looking for:
  • Strong commitment to interrupting the school-to-prison pipeline.
  • High expectations & ability to establish relationships with students & families
  • Bachelor's degree, eligible for employment in the US, pass a criminal background check, possess, or be eligible to receive a California teaching credential authorizing instruction in core curriculum.
  • We offer professional development training and mentorship through Oakland Unified School District's Alternative Education Department and the Street Academy Foundation Board's Academic Affairs Committee.
  • Training to develop students' Social Emotional Learning through Dynamic Mindfulness and Restorative Justice.
