  • $98,644 annually Length of Work Year 10 months Employment Type Full Time Job Summary Job Summary About the San Jose Conservation Corps (SJCC+CS): One of the first urban Conservation Corps in the country, the San Jose Conservation Corps + Charter School (SJCC+CS) was founded in 1987 to empower young adults aged 18 to 27 ("Corpsmembers") to upskill themselves and advance their career in conservation and green spaces.
Today, SJCC+CS continues to operate its 1-year-long paid workforce development program, while also operating a WASC-accredited charter high school, allowing these young adults who have aged out of the traditional education system to earn their high school diploma. Position Summary:
The science teacher will teach high school science courses that may include integrated science, life science/biology, physical science, environmental science and/or STEM. The teacher will be responsible for connecting academic content with contemporary issues, community projects and a youth development approach. The ideal candidate is an innovative educator who is not afraid to roll up their sleeves in a non-traditional setting to facilitate both academic and real-world skill-building, and someone who is comfortable managing a class of young adult students with diverse learning needs.
