Welcome to Summit Christian Academy! We are a classical 2-Day hybrid program entering our 5th year! If you love being supported in teaching effectively in a small classroom of up to 12 students, and if you love a healthy culture of living out your Christian faith, supporting children where they are and encouraging families in their homeschool journey, then this is the job for you! Summit Christian Academy is seeking a passionate and qualified Upper School Science Teacher (part-time schedule M/W 8:00-4:00) to join our dedicated team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a classical and engaging learning environment for students in 7th-12th grade to foster a love of learning for what is true, good and beautiful. Our Upper school courses are delivered using a university model. Our teachers teach all of the content in class over the 32 weeks, and homework is assigned for at-home days. Using Novare Science, our science teacher will explore the world of Life Science, Physics and Biology. This curriculum teaches from a Biblical, old-earth worldview and in small classes of 5-12 students. The Syllabus has been developed, many of the lesson plans have been written, and the curriculum is open-and-go, to support 32 weeks of learning and a survey (3-4) of labs. This opening is for the 2026-2027 school hear. (In service begins August 17th, 2026 and classes are August 31st - May 21st with 6 weeks off during the school year. Essential functions of the job may include but are not limited to the following: Plan and deliver engaging and effective lessons aligned with the school's curriculum and learning objectives. Implement pacing guide and maintain assignment posts in the online platform. Enter lesson plans and assignments into Gradelink. Foster an organized, respectful and Christ-loving classroom environment that focuses on the good, true and beautiful. Create a positive and supportive culture that believes in home discipleship and loves encouraging homeschool families. Consistently exhibit spiritual maturity and be a role model of Christian love, faith, truthfulness, and virtue, both in the classroom and in your personal life. Have a thorough knowledge of and interest in the subjects assigned to teach Differentiate instruction to support all students who show up prepared and wanting to learn. Assess student progress regularly and provide constructive feedback. Develop and maintain strong relationships with students, parents/guardians, and colleagues. Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress and school events. Maintain accurate student records and comply with all school policies and procedures. Participate in professional development activities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge. Collaborate with other teachers and staff to support student learning and school initiatives. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field required 5 years of teaching experience, preferably in the age/subject you are teaching Excellent classroom management and organizational skills Strong communication and interpersonal skills Passion for working with middle and high school students Experienced in lesson planning, teaching lab skills and teaching 3-4 labs a year in each class. Must be able to differentiate for 6th-12th grades (students are ability-grouped by math) Proficiency in using technology for attendance, family communication and posting lessons (we use Alma). Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Must have the ability and proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis. Perform all other related work delegated or required to accomplish the objectives of the total school program. Must be able to pass a criminal background check Teaching certification not required.
Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer, hand-held learning devices and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
Additional Information:
This job description is not intended to be a complete delineation of all the possible responsibilities of the Summit Christian Academy Teacher. Rather, it is a general description of the basic tasks the incumbent will be normally required to perform and be evaluated upon. In addition, it is expected that the incumbent will comply with all applicable school policies and guidelines set in place by the Executive Director. Pay for this position is based on a range of $40-$50/hr. Actual pay rates will be determined based on a combination of experience, education, skills, and other factors directly related to the job. The incumbent will receive a compensation offer that defines the hours worked to support the school schedule, to include compensation for hours spent teaching, planning, and for other assigned activities.
