The teacher forms students not only intellectually but also morally and spiritually, cultivating a love of truth, goodness, and beauty through rigorous scientific inquiry and thoughtful instruction. The Science Teacher prepares and delivers clear, well-structured lessons that introduce students to the principles and practices of Biology and Chemistry while encouraging careful observation, disciplined reasoning, and articulate expression. Instruction incorporates a variety of classical methods—including lecture, discussion, demonstration, and written analysis—while helping students develop habits of curiosity, precision, and analytical thinking. Equally important is the cultivation of an orderly and engaging classroom culture. Teachers establish clear expectations for conduct and academic effort, foster respectful dialogue, and promote perseverance and intellectual maturity among students. As a member of a Catholic faculty, the Science Teacher also supports the spiritual life of the Academy by modeling fidelity to the teachings of the Catholic Church and integrating faith and reason when appropriate within scientific study. Teachers participate in the broader life of the school, including Mass, prayer, faculty collaboration, and school events. Candidates should possess a bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, or a related scientific field (a master's degree preferred), strong communication and classroom leadership skills, and a commitment to teaching within the classical liberal arts tradition. Above all, teachers at Our Lady Seat of Wisdom are expected to serve as both intellectual guides and moral examples for the students entrusted to their care.
