Job Description

Curriculum Writer - High School Physical Science (Curriculum Update) Two (2)
Positions Available Hours:
15 hours per position (30 total hours across both positions) Position Summary We are seeking two Curriculum Writers to collaborate on updating and refreshing existing High School Physical Science instructional materials. Writers will review current curriculum for alignment, rigor, and relevance, and make targeted revisions that reflect current standards, instructional best practices, and student engagement strategies. Key Responsibilities Review and audit existing Physical Science curriculum materials for standards alignment, coherence, and instructional quality Update and revise lesson plans, units, and assessments to reflect current science standards and best practices Strengthen materials to include more opportunities for inquiry, data analysis, and real-world applications Ensure updated content reflects physical science core topics including motion, forces, energy, waves, electricity, and matter Collaborate with the second curriculum writer to divide revision responsibilities and maintain consistency in tone, format, and rigor across all updated materials Align revisions to district curriculum frameworks and vertical science progressions Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Physical Science, Physics, Chemistry, Science Education, or related field Experience teaching or writing curriculum for high school physical science, physics, or chemistry Strong knowledge of physical science content including mechanics, thermodynamics, waves, and electromagnetic concepts Familiarity with NGSS or state science standards Ability to work efficiently within a defined scope and meet project deadlines Work Parameters Each writer will contribute 15 hours toward a shared 30-hour project scope Writers are expected to coordinate regularly to divide revision responsibilities and review each other's work A curriculum audit checklist and revision guidelines will be provided at project kickoff by the supervising director
