Job Description

The Frederick Gunn School seeks an inspiring and dedicated teacher of Physics to join our faculty for the 2026-2027 school year. You will teach upper-level and advanced courses, including Honors and AP Physics, and contribute to the wider science curriculum as part of the school's innovative program in science, math, engineering, and entrepreneurship. We welcome both seasoned teachers and accomplished scientists ready to share their expertise. Above all, we seek genuine enthusiasm for the subject and a gift for engaging young people through inquiry, experimentation, and real problem-solving. As with every faculty role at Gunn, this position reaches well beyond the classroom. You will coach, advise, and live alongside students as a houseparent in a warm, close-knit residential community. You will be supported as a learner, too, through mentorship, professional development, and support for continuing education, so you keep growing alongside your students. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Physics or a related field required; Master's degree strongly preferred. A genuine command of physics, and the enthusiasm to make it come alive for students. A hands-on, inquiry-driven approach to laboratory science. Ability to inspire and challenge students of varied interests and abilities. Commitment to the values of a boarding school community, including participation in co-curricular and residential life. A deep alignment with the school's mission and dedication to fostering equity, inclusion, and community.
