Job Description

Secondary Education Instructor, Physics and Chemistry Who We Are At Grandview Preparatory School, students are empowered to discover, explore, learn, create, and contribute to the greater good. The Team The Grandview Faculty values collaboration and inquiry. As well as research-based practices, as a community of educational professionals. We seek to create real-world experiences and learning models to help students connect content and apply skills in a relevant and impactful way. We are seeking team members who embrace an inquiry-based and experiential model for learning that is personalized and competency-based. The humanities team at Grandview uses an interdisciplinary approach to teach literature, history, research, and communication skills through a variety of inquiry-based approaches. Adventure is a key component of each course. The Role This position involves daily interaction with Middle and Upper School students as they explore topics in collaboration with other team members, cross-curricularly, using our essential question as a compass. This bridge helps students bolster literacies, skills, and attributes that will be essential for not only success in Middle/Upper School. Strong candidates will have experience using inquiry-based teaching pedagogies, have a strong belief in competency-based education, and be passionate about student success. What a typical week looks like: Role & Responsibilities Facilitating daily learning experiences with several groups of 15 to 22 students. Co-designing interdisciplinary curriculum and assessment with teams Maintaining comprehensive records of performance, progress, and goals Communicating with families Actively participating in professional growth opportunities Participating in weekly school/division/team meetings Meeting the needs of the division by helping with weekly coverage and duties Supporting students at seasonal after-school events What we are looking for: Core Competencies Background/real-world experience in content knowledge area Experience teaching Physics and Chemistry to High School students including hands on experiments Ability to cultivate respectful and affirming environments Culturally proficient & equity literate A track record of giving high-quality, Responsive Feedback Understanding of Competency-Based Assessment/Mastery Approach to Learning Knowledge of Inquiry-Based Learning Pedagogies (PBL, VTR, QFT, DT) Proficiency in Google Suite S Qualifications Bachelor's degree in subject area, 6-12 education, or related field Teaching and learning experience (3+ Years Preferred)
