Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a passionate and dedicated High School Biology Teacher to inspire the next generation of scientists and critical thinkers. In this role, you will develop engaging lesson plans, deliver dynamic instruction, and foster a love for biological sciences among students. Your expertise will help students understand complex concepts such as cell biology, genetics, microbiology, and biochemistry, preparing them for higher education and future careers in science. Duties Design and implement comprehensive biology curricula aligned with educational standards, incorporating innovative instructional strategies and learning technology. Deliver engaging lessons on topics including anatomy, ecology, genetics, molecular biology, organic chemistry, and biochemistry to diverse student populations. Conduct laboratory experiments, dissections, and research projects to enhance hands-on learning experiences and scientific inquiry skills. Assess student progress through quizzes, tests—including standardized assessments—and project work; provide constructive feedback to support improvement. Manage classroom behavior effectively to create a positive learning environment that encourages curiosity and participation. Mentor students individually or in groups, providing academic advising and guidance on college or career pathways in science fields. Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, instructional design, and school-wide initiatives to promote continuous improvement in science education. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Biology, Science Education, or a related field; advanced degrees or higher education teaching experience preferred. Proven classroom experience teaching high school biology or related sciences; private school experience is a plus. Strong knowledge of biological sciences including cell biology, genetics, microbiology, molecular biology, biochemistry, organic chemistry, and related disciplines such as trigonometry, geometry, calculus, algebra, discrete math, and differential equations. Demonstrated expertise in laboratory techniques such as dissection and microbiology research laboratory experience. Proficiency with learning technology tools for instruction and assessment; experience with instructional design and research methodologies is desirable. Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage students effectively and collaborate with staff and parents. Skills in classroom management, behavior management strategies, lesson planning, proofreading materials, and working with students of varying needs—including special education or Montessori settings—are highly valued. Experience with standardized testing preparation and academic advising; familiarity with library services for research purposes is advantageous.
