Science Teacher (Grades 6-12) Are you passionate about helping students discover how science impacts the world around them? The teacher will utilize a variety of instructional strategies, laboratory investigations, collaborative activities, and real-world applications to ensure all scholars achieve academic success. Essential ResponsibilitiesInstruction and Student Learning Develop and implement standards-based lesson plans aligned to state standards, curriculum requirements, and school expectations. Deliver engaging instruction through hands-on investigations, laboratory activities, demonstrations, project-based learning, and inquiry-driven lessons. Connect scientific concepts to real-world experiences and everyday life. Differentiate instruction to meet the academic needs of diverse learners. Utilize data to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly. Provide individualized, small-group, and differentiated instruction to maximize student growth. Foster critical thinking, scientific reasoning, and problem-solving skills. Integrate technology and digital resources into science instruction when appropriate. Encourage student curiosity, innovation, and active participation in the learning process. Classroom Environment and Culture Create a safe, organized, and engaging classroom environment that promotes exploration and discovery. Establish high expectations for student achievement and behavior. Implement school-wide PBIS practices and classroom management systems. Maintain a laboratory environment that prioritizes safety procedures and responsible use of materials and equipment. Develop attractive and meaningful classroom displays that reinforce scientific learning and celebrate student work. Assessment and Student Support Evaluate student progress through a variety of formative and summative assessments. Maintain accurate academic records and progress reports. Identify student learning needs and collaborate with support staff to provide appropriate interventions. Participate in the IEP and 504 process as required by law. Implement accommodations and modifications with fidelity. Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and achievement. Collaboration and Professional Responsibilities Collaborate with science department members to strengthen instruction and improve student outcomes. Participate in professional learning communities, faculty meetings, and school committees. Maintain professional competence through professional development, workshops, and training opportunities. Support school initiatives, student activities, STEM events, science fairs, and academic competitions. Uphold all school policies, procedures, and professional expectations. QualificationsRequired Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Science Education, Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Physical Science, or a related field. Valid teaching certification or eligibility for certification. One (1) to three (3) years of successful teaching experience preferred. Strong understanding of scientific content and instructional best practices. Ability to effectively analyze student data and adjust instruction. Excellent classroom management skills. Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills. Preferred Florida Teaching Certification in a Science content area. Experience teaching middle school or high school science. STEM, robotics, engineering, coding, environmental science, or laboratory experience. International Baccalaureate (IB) experience. Experience integrating technology into science instruction.
