Job Description

Description To instruct students at Flagler College and to exhibit professional conduct in the performance of assigned tasks. We are seeking an instructor to teach courses in Natural Scientific Inquiry in our Core (General Education) Program. Ideally, the instructor will be available to teach a class that meets on Tuesday & Thursday mornings. Flagler College's Core Education Curriculum is organized around 9 Core "Literacies" or skills, as well as the College's Core Values (Transformative Learning; Respectful and Inclusive Community; Citizenship with Integrity; and Thoughtful Stewardship). Courses are designed to address a single literacy, and are themed around one of the College's Core Values. Classes in Natural Scientific Inquiry require students to engage in lab work and learn basic aspects of environmental science. Field trips are possible. More on the Core program can be found here: https://www.flagler.edu/academics/cace/general-educationcore-curriculum/ Instructors will typically choose from pre-made course titles and themes in their assigned literacy and will receive guidance in the form of syllabus templates, with the freedom to modify assignments and course content to suit their backgrounds and interests. Samples of approved Core courses can be found at the link above. Qualifications Required Qualifications Master's degree and 18 graduate hours from a regionally accredited college or university in the teaching subject. In exceptional cases, outstanding professional experience and demonstrated contributions to the teaching discipline may be presented in lieu of formal academic preparation. Such cases must be justified by the institution on an individual basis. Preferred Qualifications MA, MFA, or Ph.D. from a regionally accredited college or university with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in a subject relevant to the Core Literacy in which the applicant is seeking work. Teaching experience at the College level, or other related experience.
