High School Biology Teacher

High School Biology Teacher Position Overview:

Pinecrest Academy is seeking a knowledgeable and enthusiastic High School Biology Teacher with experience in laboratory instruction. The ideal candidate is passionate about biology and committed to helping students develop a deep understanding of life sciences, critical thinking skills, and a love for scientific inquiry. This teacher will deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction and create hands-on lab experiences that enhance student learning.

Key Responsibilities:

Plan and deliver high school biology instruction aligned to Florida's B.E.S.T. Standards Design and implement laboratory experiments and hands-on activities to reinforce scientific concepts Develop lessons that promote inquiry, critical thinking, and application of biological principles Use assessment data to guide instruction and differentiate for diverse learners Maintain a safe, structured, and positive classroom and lab environment Integrate technology, research projects, and collaborative learning to enhance understanding Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress Collaborate with colleagues during Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to improve instructional practices Maintain accurate records and comply with all school, district, and state requirements Participate in school-wide initiatives, professional development, and extracurricular activities

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Biology, Science Education, or a related field Valid Florida Teaching Certificate (or eligibility) in Science (Grades 6-12) Strong experience with laboratory instruction and safety procedures Knowledge of Florida standards and state assessment expectations Excellent classroom management and organizational skills Ability to analyze student data and adjust instruction accordingly Strong communication and collaboration skills

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience teaching high school biology, including AP Biology or honors courses ESOL endorsement or Reading Endorsement Experience with inquiry-based instruction, research projects, or STEM integration
