Job Title:
Agri-Science Teacher Job Summary:
The Agri-Science Instructor is responsible for delivering a dynamic program that blends agricultural education with science instruction. This role is designed for an innovative educator who is passionate about creating engaging, hands-on learning experiences and building programs that connect science and agriculture. The instructor will work closely with both the Science and Agriculture departments to develop creative, real-world learning opportunities aligned with Iowa Core standards, Career and Technical Education (CTE) frameworks, and current industry practices.Primary Responsibilities:
Agricultural Education:
Plan and deliver instruction in agricultural courses such as plant science, animal science, natural resources, ag business, etc. Integrate scientific concepts and real-world agricultural applications into daily instruction. Support and supervise student Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) programs. Maintain agricultural facilities including labs, greenhouses, and shops to ensure a safe and effective learning environment. Build and maintain partnerships with local agricultural businesses, organizations, and community stakeholders.Science Instruction:
Align curriculum with Iowa Core Science Standards. Plan and deliver instruction in science related courses Emphasize core scientific concepts including inquiry, systems thinking, energy, and environmental interactions. Use hands-on, inquiry-based, and project-based learning strategies to support student understanding.Program Development & Collaboration:
Work collaboratively with Science and Agriculture departments to design and implement innovative, cross-disciplinary programs. Develop creative learning experiences such as integrated labs, project-based units, and career pathway opportunities. Expand student access to real-world applications through community partnerships, industry connections, and experiential learning. Contribute to the growth of Science and Agricultural programming within the district.Additional Duties:
Participate in ongoing professional development related to science, agriculture, and instructional practices. Maintain accurate records of student progress, grades, and assessments. Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff. Support school initiatives and perform other duties as assigned by administration.Qualifications:
Valid Iowa teaching license with endorsement in Agricultural Education (5-12). Ability (or willingness to obtain) endorsement in general science or a related field preferred. Strong understanding of scientific principles and their practical applications. Knowledge of agricultural systems and industry practices. Effective classroom management and instructional skills.
