This role focuses on equipping students with essential life skills through hands-on, standards-aligned instruction. As an alternative high school environment, we emphasize building strong relationships and providing practical, real-world applications in nutrition, financial literacy, and human development to help students transition successfully into adulthood.
Key Responsibilities Curriculum Development:
Design and implement a comprehensive FCS curriculum meeting Idaho state standards, covering topics such as Culinary Arts, Nutrition, Child Development, and Interior Design.
Instructional Excellence:
Utilize a variety of teaching methods, including lab-based learning and technical demonstrations, to engage diverse learners.
Student Support:
Foster a positive, inclusive classroom culture that supports the social-emotional growth and academic success of all students.
Assessment & Reporting:
Evaluate student progress through projects, practical exams, and presentations; maintain accurate records of attendance and grades.
Professional Collaboration:
Participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), staff meetings, and district-wide development sessions.
Resource Management:
Manage classroom budgets, maintain equipment (kitchens, sewing machines, etc.), and ensure all safety protocols are strictly followed.
Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's degree in Family and Consumer Science Education or a related field from an accredited institution.
Certification:
Valid Idaho Teaching Credential with a CTE Family and Consumer Sciences (6-12) endorsement.
Skills:
Strong classroom management, proficiency in educational technology, and the ability to motivate students in an alternative high school setting. All recommendations for hire are tentative offers.
