Job Description

Job Summary O'Leary Middle School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Life Science teacher to join our dynamic educational team. The ideal candidate will inspire students to explore the fascinating world of biology and life sciences while fostering a love for learning and critical thinking. This full-time position requires a commitment to creating an engaging and inclusive classroom environment that supports diverse learning styles and encourages student participation. Responsibilities Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that align with state standards and curriculum guidelines for Life Science. Create a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that promotes student engagement and active learning. Utilize a variety of teaching methods and instructional materials to accommodate different learning styles and abilities. Assess and evaluate student progress through tests, assignments, and projects, providing timely feedback to support their academic growth. Foster a collaborative learning environment by encouraging students to work together and engage in discussions. Integrate technology and hands-on activities into lessons to enhance student understanding of scientific concepts. Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and performance data. Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and any concerns. Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in education and advancements in the life sciences. Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary projects and initiatives that enhance the overall educational experience. Contribute to the school community by participating in school events, committees, and extracurricular activities. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Life Science, Biology, Education, or a related field. Valid teaching certification in Biology or Life Sciences, or Standard Elementary K-8 Strong knowledge of life science concepts and the ability to convey complex information in an understandable manner. Previous teaching experience at the middle school level is preferred. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students. Proficiency in using technology for teaching and student assessment. A passion for science education and a desire to inspire the next generation of scientists. Employment is contingent upon board approval and successful completion of federal background check and drug-free workplace pre-employment screening.
