Description:

Mahomet-Seymour High School is seeking a qualified High School Science Teacher to join our team for the 2026-2027 school year. The successful candidate will plan and deliver engaging, standards-based science instruction that promotes critical thinking, inquiry, and student achievement. Teaching assignments may include a combination of courses in Biology, Chemistry, and/or Earth Science.

Responsibilities:

Plan and implement instruction aligned to Illinois Learning Standards for science. Develop engaging, inquiry-based lessons that promote scientific thinking. Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student learning needs. Assess student progress and use data to inform instructional decisions. Maintain a structured, safe, and supportive classroom environment. Collaborate with colleagues, support staff, and administration. Communicate effectively with students, families, and staff. Maintain accurate student records and documentation. Support district and building initiatives.

Qualifications:

Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with appropriate Science endorsement. Strong content knowledge and instructional practices in science education. Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff. Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills.

NOTE:

Our existing 4-year collective bargaining agreement will expire at the end of the 2025-2026 school year and we will be negotiating a new agreement that will begin with the 2026-2027 school year.
