Description:

Mahomet-Seymour Junior High School is seeking a qualified Junior High Science Teacher to join our team for the 2026-2027 school year. The successful candidate will plan and deliver engaging, standards-based science instruction that supports the academic and developmental needs of junior high students. Instruction should promote critical thinking, inquiry, and student achievement. Teaching assignments may include a combination of life, physical, and/or earth science content appropriate for the junior high level.

Responsibilities:

Plan and implement instruction aligned to Illinois Learning Standards for science. Develop engaging, inquiry-based lessons that promote scientific thinking and problem-solving. Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student learning needs. Monitor student progress and use assessment data to guide instruction. Maintain a structured, safe, and supportive classroom environment. Collaborate with grade-level teams, support staff, and administration. Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues. Maintain accurate student records and documentation. Support district and building initiatives.

Qualifications:

Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with appropriate middle grades science endorsement. Strong knowledge of junior high science curriculum and instructional practices. Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and staff. Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills.

NOTE:

Our existing 4-year collective bargaining agreement will expire at the end of the 2025-2026 school year and we will be negotiating a new agreement that will begin with the 2026-2027 school year.
