Job Description

James E. Davis School is a state-accredited, non-public school committed to helping students succeed academically. Located in Lebanon, Indiana, our school offers a supportive teaching environment with small class sizes—typically fewer than 10 students—allowing for personalized instruction and meaningful student-teacher connections. We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Licensed Science Teacher to instruct middle and high school students, with a focus on preparing high schoolers for graduation credit. Our teachers are well-supported, enabling them to focus on what they do best: teaching and inspiring students. Our Science teacher should hold at least a bachelor's degree in Science or a related field. A valid K-12 teaching license or certification is required. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Science curriculum, effective instructional strategies, and assessment methods. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with the ability to foster a student-centered, inclusive classroom environment, are essential. The candidate should be well-organized, demonstrate strong classroom management abilities, and be proficient in using educational technology to enhance learning. If you are passionate about education and excited to make a difference, we would love to hear from you! Responsibilities Develop and deliver engaging Science lessons aligned with middle and high school standards. Manage classroom behavior, establish routines, and monitor student progress through formative assessments. Plan, edit, and source age-appropriate Science lessons and materials. Provide feedback, tutoring, and support to students with diverse learning needs; adapt instruction as needed. Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, assessments, and school-wide academic initiatives. Communicate regularly with students, parents, and administrators about performance and interventions.
