About Hilltown:
Hilltown Cooperative Charter Public School is a K-8 public charter school founded in 1995. Our mission is to engage students in experiential, hands-on learning that integrates the arts and interdisciplinary studies, fosters critical thinking skills, and nurtures a lifelong joy of learning. We strive to sustain a cooperative, close-knit community of students, staff, families, and local partners who guide and support the educational program. At the heart of our work is a commitment to cultivating children's individual voices and a shared respect for one another, our community, and the world around us. Our mission informs every aspect of our teaching and learning. We are currently seeking a Grade 7-8 science teacher who shares this vision and is excited to contribute to a vibrant, child-centered, and collaborative school community. Position Overview The Grade 7-8 Science teacher at Hilltown is part of a collaborative team of four teachers, and is responsible for delivery of a science curriculum to 60 students in grades 7 and 8. In addition to their core subject area responsibilities, teachers at Hilltown design and implement integrated, experiential curriculum that reflects our mission and supports the academic, social, and emotional development of young learners. We are looking for an educator who brings warmth, creativity, flexibility, and a deep understanding of how children in grades 7 and 8 grow and learn. A successful candidate will value arts integration, community building, and hands-on learning, and will be committed to fostering a classroom where all children feel seen, supported, and challenged.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree Passing scores on relevant MTELs (or ability to meet this requirement early in tenure)
Preferred Qualifications:
4+ years prior teaching experience Teacher license in relevant field Master's degree
Primary Responsibilities:
Serve as the Science teacher in a multi-grade setting Facilitate the creation of a respectful, safe, and nurturing classroom environment Actively work as part of a teaching team to develop and implement an integrated curriculum that is consistent with the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks Create and maintain a physical space for learning that is warm, organized, and educationally engaging Build strong relationships with students and families through regular communication and connection Implement performance-based assessments of students' learning, and document student work Collaborate with colleagues and support staff to meet the needs of all learners Develop and maintain consistent and timely home-school communication that supports partnership with students' caregivers Work collaboratively with special education teachers to ensure implementation of all accommodations and modifications outlined in assigned students' educational plans Supervise and support a Teaching Assistant, including regular planning and feedback
Additional Requirements:
Participate fully in the school's collaborative professional development program Attend and engage in faculty meetings, integrated curriculum planning meetings, and student support team meetings Complete progress reports for each student three times per year Conduct conferences with each family once per year Conduct an evening classroom orientation session each fall Participate in assigned lunch/recess supervision Engage in weekly All School gatherings that celebrate community and student voice Develop and implement "Mini Courses" for mixed grade groups of students as scheduled

Meet routine responsibilities consistently Manage time to accomplish multiple tasks and meet deadlines Maintain strong attendance and punctuality Work independently with general guidance Maintain cooperative relationships with students and adults Operate standard office equipment including computer, email, and copier Communicate effectively both orally and in writing Support the school's goals, philosophies, and overall mission
