Position Summary:
The Unidos Academy at Lawrence High School is seeking a dedicated Biology Teacher to join our instructional team. The teacher will deliver high-quality Biology instruction aligned with Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and work closely with colleagues to foster a supportive, rigorous, and inclusive learning environment. The ideal candidate is collaborative, reflective, and passionate about disrupting inequities in education while meeting the diverse needs of our students.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Align curriculum to the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks with grade-level teams
  • Develop and implement common formative and summative assessments
  • Analyze student data and adjust instruction accordingly to ensure academic growth
  • Collaborate with Special Education and ESL teachers to differentiate instruction
  • Participate in weekly content team meetings and interdisciplinary cohort sessions
  • Engage in biweekly instructional coaching to improve teaching practices
  • Maintain regular communication with students and families regarding academic and behavioral progress
  • Support school-wide efforts to create a positive, culturally responsive learning environment
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Deep understanding of Biology
  • Ability to support English Language Learners and students with diverse learning needs
  • Skill in using assessment data to drive instruction and measure student growth
  • Commitment to continuous professional growth and collaboration
  • Strong classroom management and culturally responsive teaching practices
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain high expectations for all students
  • Resilience, flexibility, and a willingness to receive and apply feedback
  • A sense of urgency, humility, and humor in working with students and peers
Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred
  • Valid Massachusetts DESE licensure in Biology or Earth & Space Science required
  • SEI (Sheltered English Immersion) endorsement required
  • Passing scores on MTEL Communication and Literacy and relevant subject tests
  • Minimum of two years of successful teaching experience in a similar school setting preferred
