): Algonquin Regional High School is seeking a Chemistry teacher to teach 1 section each of AP Chemistry and Organic Chemistry, and 3 sections of College Prep Chemistry, beginning May 11 and finishing on June 25. The Chemistry Teacher position is responsible for creating a classroom environment that develops students' use of the sciences and specifically chemistry in High School. The High School Chemistry teacher is responsible for utilizing research-based pedagogical strategies to teach and engage diverse groups of students in grades 9-12. Teachers should be well versed in Massachusetts High School Science Standards, as well as Sheltered English Instruction (SEI) practices and Universal Design to ensure access to content for all students. Teachers must exercise culturally responsive practices to promote equity and respect for all students.QUALIFICATIONS

): Plan and facilitate Chemistry lessons for learning that are aligned with State Standards Use all available technology and virtual curricula provided by the district to create engaging Chemistry lessons that are linked with 21st Century skills and remote accessibility. Manage classroom behavior with Positive Behavior Intervention Strategies that motivate students and limit disruptions. Utilize inclusive practices and SEI strategies for students on IEPs and English Learners. Incorporate language activities into Chemistry instruction including Speaking, Reading and Writing that align with State Standards for Language Proficiency. Utilize available data to make instructional decisions that target the academic and linguistics needs of students. Plan and facilitate Chemistry lab activities when aligned with State Standards with the appropriate safety protocols and necessary training. Communicate with student families on a regular basis using culturally responsive strategies that promote two-way conversations. Assist in ordering and managing supplies necessary for Chemistry classrooms. Employ a strong growth mindset and participate in professional development that is relevant to the challenges of urban education in order to close opportunity gaps. Collaborate with guidance counselors to refer students who are in need of Social Emotional support. Collaborate with Special Education leadership and teacher colleagues to review IEPs and ensure all accommodations are properly and consistently delivered. Prepares and adapts Chemistry material and methods to develop relevant sequential assignments and lesson plans that guide and challenge students. Develops lesson plans and supplementary materials compatible with the MA frameworks and district curricula; provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student and subgroups of students. Evaluates academic and social growth of students, prepares report cards, keeps appropriate records to include attendance reports, checklists, census forms, and other recordkeeping activities as necessary. Encourages students to think independently and to express original ideas. Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment. Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve learning, health and attitude problems. Communicates with parents and school counselors on student progress. Supervises students in assigned out-of-classroom activities during the working day. Participates in faculty committees and the sponsorship of student activities. Administers testing in accordance with school and state testing practices. Consistent and on-time attendance is required for supervision and instruction of the students; Other responsibilities as needed.WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work Environment:
Work is generally performed in a school environment during the school day; however, there may be occasions for after-school meetings.Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the teacher is frequently required to walk, stand, sit, talk, and hear. The teacher is regularly required to bend, stoop, crouch and/or kneel. The teacher is occasionally required to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Must have sufficient mobility to navigate within a large school building.
